P52 Week 19 - Green

Every spring without fail, I always scout out some Kimberly Queen ferns to place in my front porch urns. I love how their stems stand erect and they gracefully fall over the sides giving everyone a warm welcome. I start out faithfully watering them, keeping them lush and green…….then the dog days of summer hit, and by late August, or early September, they are slowly curling up in a slow agonizing death.

Each year I tell myself I am going to do better and keep them alive. If the heat and neglect don’t get them, then the first frost does. So, the vicious cycle begins again. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this! 🤷‍♀️😂

I’m not sure what kind of insect this is on the fern, but I liked the pop of red against the green. If anyone knows what it is, let me know.

Autumn Ferns

Another source of green in my front flowerbed. Thankfully, these do come back every spring and require very little maintenance. One of my favorites!
