P52 Week 6 - Hands
Taking photos of my mom’s hands while sewing curtains for her two new great-grandsons nurseries takes me back to memories of my childhood, sitting on the spinning stools at the pattern display at the local Hancocks store. I remember the excitement of flipping through the pages of the large pattern books admiring the drawings looking for what would be my new dress, or outfit. There was much love and attention given to choosing just the right fabric as well as the tiniest details; even down to the zipper, buttons, clasps & the color of the thread. She meticulously irons each seam and darts and carefully measures the hem. Hearing the whirring sound of the sewing machine and watching her guide the material instantly transports me back to my childhood as my mother has sewn many things for me growing up. It reminds me of a simpler time.
I love these hands who have helped guide me, disciplined me, loved me, comforted me, and taught me acts of service and hard work. These hands have molded me into who I have become today.
She works with her hands in delight. Give her the product of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates - Proverbs 31: 13, 31
