Directional Light | Week 4
As mentioned earlier, I had the opportunity to travel with almost 300 band students, directors and parent chaperones to Washington D.C. the beginning of June. On our last day we got to experience the Washington Metro. The band director gathered everyone together that morning to give us our specific instructions. We were to ride the Red Line toward Glenmont, get off at Gallery Place, board on the Green line and ride to Branch Avenue and then get off at the Archives. Simple enough right? Well maybe if it was just yourself you had to worry about.... but we were to stay together as a group...a BIG group. My first thought was um yeah, sure all 300 of us stay together? Are you kidding me? I can hardly keep my family of five together in a shopping mall. I always have a drifter, but don't worry.... it is never my children, only my husband. This is why we are thankful for cell phones. I am convinced this is why they were invented. Unfortunately, cell reception doesn't work in SAM's though. How do I know this? Let’s just say I’ve had first hand experience wandering around that huge store with a shopping cart full of groceries lugging 3 kids for 30 minutes looking for my husband, but I digress. For many of the kids in our group, this was their first experience to ride a subway (including some of the chaperones), which made a couple of the senior boys in our group doubt mine and another mom’s navigational skills. Amazingly enough, we all made it together and didn't lose one student or chaperone and had a lot of fun in the process! In the shuffle of keeping our group together I managed to grab a few quick shots showcasing the artificial light showcasing the modern and repetitive architecture. Please continue around the blog circle beginning with the amazingly talented Kelly owner of K.Rox Photography.
