San Francisco
I have to admit, I was somewhat apprehensive about visiting San Francisco. With recent headlines of the homeless and drug use, who could blame this Texas girl? I found this city beautiful, vibrant, and full of energy! My only regret is not being able to spend more time to see more sights. We barely scratched the surface! One of the things I was most excited about was to see the Golden Gate Bridge in person. It is such an iconic bridge rich with history. We even crossed it multiple times and we have the toll invoices to prove it! :)
I was glad to have good walking shoes because we did a ton of walking! We each logged about 20-25,000 steps/day! It’s nice to have your son along to carry your camera backpack, especially with that volume of walking! We walked to another of San Francisco’s most recognized landmarks, the Palace of Fine Arts from Chrissy Field. The beautiful rotunda stands high above the reflective lagoon framed with a wide colonnade on each side. The architecture is something to marvel at surrounded by a peaceful lagoon, home to many wildlife birds, ducks, and fish.
The view is like a postcard! The guys pretty much had to drag me away from here because this was a photographer’s paradise!
Unfortunately, we did not have time to visit Alcatraz Island, so that will have to be on the next trip.
To see more about our California trip you can see my other blog posts (Point Dume, Getty Villa Museum & Santa Monica Beach). Thanks for visiting!
Tomorrow is Muir Woods!
