Everyday Moments: New

Welcome to the first installment of a monthly collaborative photo project I am thrilled to be participating in with several talented photographers whom I have met through a recent photography class. This project concentrates on focusing on our everyday moments.  Together we will share our images at the end of each month focusing on various sub-themes related to the over-arching theme of Everyday Moments.  As we all know, life slips by very quickly and the images shared will be small glimpses into our everyday lives.  Our memories are built around these small everyday moments, not just the big events.  Hopefully this project enables us to preserve more of the unscripted moments in our life.  While the images may or may not be technically perfect, they are often the ones most treasured as they pull at our heartstrings.  It is our everyday......and I invite you to follow along with me on this project. Our first sub-theme is beginnings.  Beginnings are exciting, fresh, new and sometimes even scary.....kind of like when you put your teenage child behind the wheel.  We have endured this experience once with our first but now it is the middle child's turn.  She has been practicing driving with her dad on the weekends in his truck in big abandoned parking lots.  Her dad and I figure if she's able to learn and handle the truck, then transitioning to something smaller will be even easier.  Her dad and I also like the fact that while she is learning in the truck we can sit closer and reach the gas/brake pedal should the need arise.  She has gained some confidence in the truck and has been begging to drive my car.   I've had a few reservations for a few reasons.#1 My car is newer than her dad's truck.#2  There is the gearshift between me and the gas/brake pedal.#3 Umm did I mention my car is newer and I can't reach the gas/brake pedal? She is enrolled to take driver's ed later this spring.  I anticipate she will be a fine and responsible driver and I admit it will be nice to be relieved of my mom chauffeur duties soon, but oh how it is so frightening to hand the keys over.  Here is my girl in my car getting the feel of things in our driveway.  The image with the mischievous grin is in response to her asking me if she could pull the car into the garage, which I answered with a resounding "Noooo, not yet!".I encourage you to continue around our small blog circle project beginning with Melissa Rich, owner of Melissa Bliss Photography, and mother of four from Virginia.
